Lancaster, PA is a city located in South Central Pennsylvania, and the second-largest city in the area, with a population of nearly 60,000 in the city proper, 400,000 in the urban area, and about 508,000 in the Metro Statistical Area (MSA), which includes the surrounding regions and areas.

Lancaster was first founded in 1734, and incorporated as a borough in 1742. It’s well-known as the birthplace of James Buchanan, the 15th president of America, as well as Thaddeus Stevens, one of the most well-known abolitionists in Congress.

Today, the city is quickly-growing and diverse, with a population that’s 55% white and 16.3% Black, with 39.3% of residents identifying as being of Hispanic or Latino descent. A few of the largest ethnic groups in the city include Puerto Ricans, Germans, African Americans, and Irish.

There are also numerous private schools, and some universities and colleges including Franklin & Marshall College, Thaddeus Stevens School of Technology, and the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design.
